The people are toxic. They act like work is high school and throw people under the bus just because they don't like the person. Beware of this place. Do not let the money and the benefits fool you. Love yourself and find a better place to work. There are multiple firms in new york who can offer the same thing but with a better culture."

Former Employee - Paralegal says"Little interest in new ideas, critical thinking, complex problem solving. I was astonished that third and fourth year associates remained glorified paper-pushers. It's a clunky and slow moving institution not agile enough to pay heed to individual's desires to learn or grow. It is a machine that will eek out all your creative juice until you are left hallow. There is little attention from management to employee relations issues and disinterest in affording workers personal freedoms and responsibility. It is affronting how management babysit paralegals, giving them a sign in sheet -- marking them tardy if late, tracking whereabouts via key card access, hiring case managers as babysitters, cutting them off from all attorney relations. When approached about camaraderie issues, or learning/growth issues, managers essentially reply with a "such is life" answer. If you're interested in learning about legal practices before Law school, I would suggest finding a small practitioner's office where you might have the opportunity to attend court, listen to oral argument, sit in on meetings, and speak to attorneys about the briefing process. These opportunities, no matter how aggressively you seek, are rarely available for a paralegal at Cravath. If you are interested in learning the functionality of the duplicating department, working closely with document processing, gaining skills in quickly shuffling briefs behind tabs in binders, and spending your days copying and pasting data from one spreadsheet to the next, you are well suited to Cravath's work."

On a day to day basis, the attorneys that I was working under had little or no work for me to do, which lead to be being on my own and being on the computer a lot. The others who had had my position for years, sometimes decades, were in the exact same boat, and had virtually nothing to do on a day to day basis. There is no upward mobility at all.
